Mississippi State baseball freshman Jacob Parker is already filling his trophy case.
Parker was named Perfect Game’s Freshman of the Year on Tuesday following a sensational first year with the Bulldogs. He started 44 games, hitting .339 with a .449 on base percentage. His 18 home runs and 62 RBI were both second best on the team.
Parker is the first MSU Freshman to earn the honor from Perfect Game since JT Ginn in 2019. He is the fourth ever Bulldog to receive a Freshman of the Year award.
He was also named to the SEC All-Freshman Team, a Freshman All-American by the National College Baseball Writers Association and the most outstanding player in the Starkville Regional.
Five of Parker’s teammates also earned All-Region honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association. Graduate designated hitter Noah Sullivan, junior third baseman Ace Reese and sophomore starter Tomas Valincius were named to the All-Region First Team.
Sullivan hit .342 with 13 home runs and 46 RBIs in 219 at-bats. Reese, a projected first-round pick in this year’s MLB Draft, led State in home runs (24) and RBI (74). Valincius led the Bulldogs in starts with 17, going 11-2 with a 3.50 ERA.
Graduate outfielder Gehrig Frei and graduate Reed Stallman earned second-team all-region honors.
