Former Ole Miss edge rusher Princewill Umanmielen has signed with LSU. The news was first reported by Pete Nakos of On3sports on Wednesday.
Umanmielen led the Rebels with nine sacks last season to go with 45 total tackles, including 18 solo tackles and 13 tackles-for-loss. The junior transfer registered 15 quarterback hurries and three pass breakups on the season. He was rated as the fifth-best player and the second-best edge in the transfer portal by On3.
Umanmielen was a consensus four-star recruit out of Manor High School near Austin, Texas. He was ranked among the nation’s top 300 prospects by ESPN, Rivals, 247Sports and On3.
The edge rusher arrived in Oxford as a transfer from Nebraska, where he was ranked as the ninth-best player in the transfer portal according to 247Sports and was a top-25 overall transfer by On3 and Rivals. He played in 23 games as a Cornhusker over two seasons, tallying 13 total tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss as a sophomore. Umanmielen played in 11 games with one start as a true freshman in 2023 and was named a second-team Freshman All-American
Umanmielen was one of 21 former Ole Miss players to enter the portal and is now the 17th to find a new home. His brother, Princely, lettered at Ole Miss in 2024 and was a third-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers.
