Investigation continues into commercial truck, pickup crash
More details about a Wednesday morning wreck that sent two men to the hospital emerged Thursday.
The wreck happened at around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Highway 45 North and Cal Kolola Road in front of the Chevron gas station. Travis Silvers, 29, of Macon, and Joe Raspberry, 66, of Hamilton, were the two drivers involved in the crash.

A 52-year-old man arrested last week is accused of having sexual relations with a 15-year-old girl. According to Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office arrest reports, William Clay Hall of 1794 Steens Road in Steens was arrested Dec. 6 at his residence at about 8 a.m. on a charge of statutory rape.

The second suspect in the burglary caught on video turned himself in Tuesday night, police said.
Columbus police officer Terrie Songer said Tavarous Mason, 28, of 416 John Colbert Road in Macon, turned himself in to Noxubee County authorities.
Lowndes Circuit Court: Steens man pleads guilty to child rape
A Steens man was sentenced to 28 years in prison for statutory rape. The Lowndes County Circuit Court session wrapped up last week with a high-profile murder case. The same day a guilty verdict was delivered in the Daniel Copple murder trial, Joshua L. Conn of 413 Steens Road in Steens pleaded guilty to statutory rape.
Family escapes Tuesday house fire near airport
A Lowndes County home was destroyed Tuesday morning, and officials are investigating how it started.
No one was injured in the fire that started about 3 a.m. inside a mobile home at 883 Motley Road near the Golden Triangle Regional Airport.
