STARKVILLE — Coming off a week where Mississippi State earned a top-15 win at home against Florida, the Bulldogs were recognized with an in-season honor from the Southeastern Conference.
Redshirt junior outside hitter Amina Shackleford was named Co-Offensive Player of the Week in the SEC, the first weekly honor of her career, following a performance where she led the Bulldogs with 18 kills and a .469 hitting percentage against the Gators.
“I am so proud of Mimi for this recognition,” head coach Julie Darty Dennis said in Monday’s press release. “She has been fine tuning her game and working extremely hard in practice to rise up and be just a little bit better for her team and I think we saw her take it to an entirely different level against Florida.”
She averaged 4.5 kills per set in the four-set win, also adding two blocks to her performance. Shackleford is also second on the team in blocks with 54 this season.
“Mimi was unreal,” Darty Dennis said. “She had great shot selection, court awareness and was cool under pressure in some pretty big moments.”
