STEENS — It was another crowded day of basketball at Columbus Christian Academy at the Impact Sports Christmas Tournament, with six games on the docket, five of which including local teams.
The Rams were featured in three of those games, two of which on the boys side. CCA split the pair of games, starting with a 72-52 win over Central Holmes Christian.
Joe Edwards was one of three CCA (8-8) players to finish in double-figures in the first game, leading the way with 24 points for the Rams. Garrett Weathers (14 points) and Drake Shaw (12 points) also factored in the win.
In Game 2 for the Rams’ boys team, they struggled against Delta Streets Academy, losing 56-40. With 50 of Lions’ 56 points coming from its starters, CCA had no answers to them on the floor.
While the Rams had no answers on defense, DSA had no answers for Weathers on defense as he knocked down five three-pointers, scoring a game-high 27 points.
CCA will feature in Day 3 of the tournament on Thursday.
Aside from the hosts, New Hope’s girls team took on Central Holmes Christian and took care of business in a 57-22 win.
Tyrianna Frison led the Trojans (4-6) in scoring with 12 points in the win, snapping a multi-game losing streak for New Hope.
New Hope will host Hernando in its next game in the Trojan Holiday Classic at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Winona Christian 52, Oak Hill Academy 35
Oak Hill Academy girls basketball fell to Winona Christian, 52-35, on Wednesday at the Christmas Classic Tournament.
Harley Vaughn led the Raiders (8-8) in scoring with 14 points in the loss. Mary Beth Briggs also had nine points for Oak Hill Academy.
OHA will take on Tri-State (Corinth) in its next game at 6:15 p.m. Thursday at the Impact Sports Christmas Tournament in Steens.
