Two days after Mississippi State offensive lineman Kwatrivous “Dollar Bill” Johnson was arrested by the Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Office, another prominent Mississippi State athlete was arrested by OCSO.
Forward/center Jessika Carter turned herself in immediately Wednesday on a charge of simple assault upon being made aware of a warrant for her arrest. Carter was released on $500 bail after being processed.
Sheriff’s deputies were called to Aspen Heights Apartments on Aug. 29, but no arrest was made because Carter was not on scene. The alleged victim filed an affidavit, and a justice court judge then issued a warrant for Carter’s arrest.
“We have been made aware of the situation,” head coach Nikki McCray-Penson told the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal in a statement Thursday morning. “We take this matter very seriously and are in the process of gathering details and additional information from the proper authorities. At this time we will have no further comment.”
Simple assault carries a fine of up to $500 and up to six months in jail, according to Mississippi code.
Carter has played for the Bulldogs since her freshman season in 2018-19. Last year, she started all 19 games and averaged 14.3 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per contest.
