The MLB Draft has come and gone, and with it Mississippi State’s 2027 roster picture is clearer, though a few uncertainties remain.
Four 2026 Bulldogs were drafted; two, Ace Reese and Aidan Teel, with remaining eligibility. Reese, the Seattle Mariners’ first round pick is as good as gone. Teel, who went in the 11th round has a decision to make.
Four 2027 signees were drafted, three going in the top-10 rounds. Denton Lord, a high school pitcher picked in the 17th round has already announced he is coming to Starkville next season.
Draftees have up until July 27 to sign with their squad.
2026 Bulldogs drafted
Ace Reese, Seattle Mariners – Round 1, Pick 20
Picked a few spots lower than his MLB top-250 draft prospect ranking, Reese is headed to the Mariners organization. The slugging third baseman who led the Bulldogs in home runs and RBI has a signing bonus of $3.82 million, according to MLB.com.
Ben Davis, Colorado Rockies – Round 4, Pick 104
Ben Davis was the next highest Bulldog off the board. He’ll sign with the Rockies, and cash in on a $755,000 signing bonus, with no remaining college eligibility.
Bryce Chance, Toronto Blue Jays – Round 10, Pick 312
Bryce Chance has gone from walk-on to pro player after five seasons in Starkville. The Mississippi kid has a pick value of $191,000.
Aidan Teel, Minnesota Twins – Round 11, Pick 317
Aidan Teel is the only 2026 Bulldog with a real decision to make. Teel has another year of eligibility, leaving him with the option to not sign with the Twins and come back to Starkville.
There is no set signing bonus for Teel’s pick.
2027 signees drafted
Rocco Maniscalco, St. Louis Cardinals – Round 2, Pick 50
Rocco Maniscalco, son of former MSU shortstop Matt Maniscalco, was the highest MSU signee off the board.
Ranked the top player in Alabama by Perfect Game, Maniscalco has a signing bonus of $1.98 million.
Will Brick, Toronto Blue Jays – Round 4, Pick 131
Will Brick was the highest ranked MSU signee in the MLB’s top-250 draft prospects, ranked No. 46. His pick has a signing bonus of $581,100.
He hit .517 with a .615 OBP as a senior at Christian Brothers High School in Memphis, Tennessee.
Martin Shelar, Boston Red Sox – Round 9, Pick 274
Martin Shelar hit .506 last season at the Marist School in Atlanta. His pick signing bonus is $205,400.
Denton Lord, San Diego Padres – Round 17, Pick 515
Denton Lord, a right-handed pitcher from Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, has already announced he will play college ball at State.
