STEENS — Thursday was the third and final day of the Impact Sports Christmas Tournament at Columbus Christian Academy, and there were five games with local schools included in the mix.
CCA, the tournament host, had both its girls and boys teams playing on the final day as the Rams swept the competition.
The boys played in the first game of the day, defeating Sylva-Bay Academy, 69-51. The Rams (11-5) were led by Joe Michael Edwards, who scored 19 points in the win. Garrett Weathers, who scored a combined 41 points in two games on Wednesday, put up 17 points for the Rams on Thursday.
The girls played in the second-to-last game of the day, defeating Corinth-based Tri-State 62-14, thanks to a great day from Carrie Kinard, who led the Rams (9-7) with 15 points.
CCA’s boys will play in another tournament on Thursday, while the girls will next play at Amory Christian at 6 p.m. Jan. 5.
West Lowndes’ boys and girls teams were also both in action, splitting a pair of games on the day. The boys team defeated Winston Academy handily, a 79-42 win, with four players finishing in double figures in scoring.
Jarmarvion Seals led the Panthers (7-8) in scoring with 16 points.
The girls team lost a tough one against Winston Academy, 59-39. Takina Fulton led the Panthers in scoring with nine points in the loss. Both teams will take on New Hope on the road in their next games Tuesday.
Oak Hill Academy’s boys team was the final local team playing, defeating Tri-State 71-62, thanks to a massive day from Collins Trolio, who scored a game-high 32 points, and John Ross Craven, who scored 20 points for the Raiders.
OHA will next play at North Delta School at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

New Hope 51, Hernando 47
NEW HOPE — New Hope girls basketball defeated Hernando, 51-47, at the Trojan Holiday Classic on Thursday.
Lailah Henderson and Madyson McBrayer led the Trojans (4-7) in scoring with 14 points and 11 points, respectively, the lone scorers for New Hope to finish in double figures.
New Hope will host West Lowndes in its next game at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Columbus 63, Hernando 52
NEW HOPE — Columbus boys basketball defeated Hernando, 63-52, in the Trojan Holiday Classic on Thursday.
Jayden Tatum led the Falcons (8-5) in scoring with 16 points in the win. Jace O’Neal and Josh Smith each had 12 points for Columbus, and Jakele Phillips had 10 points.
Columbus will face Hartfield Academy on Friday in the Trojan Holiday Classic.
Caledonia 77, Vernon (Ala.) 48
CALEDONIA — Caledonia boys basketball defeated Vernon (Alabama), 77-48, in the Battle of the Borders tournament Thursday at home.
Tylen Simpson led the Cavaliers in scoring with 16 points, while KJ Barnes scored 11 points and Chris Blevins scored 10 points for Caledonia.
Marion County (Ala.) 76, Caledonia 70
CALEDONIA — Caledonia boys basketball fell to Marion County (Alabama), 76-70, in the Battle of the Borders Tournament.
Mason Godsey led the Cavaliers (14-4) in scoring in the loss with 30 points.
Caledonia will host Mooreville in its next game at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Clarksville Academy (Tenn.) 57, Starkville Academy 37 (Record: 9-6)
