BILOXI — The Heritage Academy baseball team finished a 3-1 weekend at the Battle at the Beach tournament in Biloxi by beating Theodore (Alabama) and George County on Friday and Saturday at Biloxi High School.
Caleb Hall pitched a complete game and Aaron Downs had three hits as the Patriots (16-4) beat George County 6-3 on Saturday. Hall and Baker Imes each drove in two runs.
On Friday night, the Patriots beat Theodore (Alabama) 11-9 in five innings.
Heritage Academy scored four runs in the first inning and six in the third to get the win.
Downs, Carson Hollis and Rhett Ketchum all had multiple hits for the Patriots. Mitchell Woodard earned the win in relief of Jack Ketchum, and Braden Davidson got the save.
Heritage Academy will play a doubleheader at East Rankin Academy beginning at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
Hattiesburg 8, New Hope 4, Friday
DECATUR — New Hope fell to Hattiesburg 8-4 at the East Central Community College tournament on Friday in Decatur.
The Tigers scored four runs in the fifth to stretch their 2-1 lead to 6-1, then added two runs in the sixth.
New Hope scored a run in the first inning, two in the sixth and one in the seventh.
Hunter Carr drove in a run for the Trojans. Andrew Chism had three strikeouts in four innings, and Zac Butler had two strikeouts in two innings.
New Hope will host West Point on Tuesday.
