A second person has been arrested in connection with a Dec. 30 murder in Columbus.
Terry Leshan Brooks, 40, of Columbus was arrested Friday on a charge of accessory after the fact in the murder of Frank Edwards.
Edwards was visiting friends on 12th Avenue South and was shot in the front yard when an argument broke out, Columbus Police Chief Fred Shelton told The Dispatch after the incident. Kenny Riheam Armistad, 25, of Columbus, was arrested for the murder.
Shelton would not confirm to The Dispatch how Brooks aided Armistad after the shooting, citing an “ongoing investigation.”
Brooks’ bond is set at $900,000. He is being held in Lowndes County Adult Detention Center. He also faces charges of possession of cocaine and possession of a weapon by felon.
In a separate case, CPD has charged Caleb Gardner, 20, of two counts of aggravated assault following a shooting at the Southside Market on Fourth Street South on Aug. 5.
Shelton told The Dispatch Gardner shot two store employees after an argument escalated and fled the scene.
His bond has not been set.
