Four men have been indicted for murder during the most recent session of the grand jury for the 14th Circuit Court District, according to documents in Lowndes County Circuit Court.
Jatavis Williams, 23, was indicted for murder in the November 2020 slaying of Tarcari Tyshun Walker, 24, who was shot near the intersection of Seventh Avenue North and 22nd Street. The two had been arguing before the shooting, according to police. Although officers attempted to save Walker with CPR, he died on the porch of a nearby home.
In another case, Kenny Armistad, 26, was indicted for murder, two charges of aggravated assault and possession of a weapon by a felon. Armistad was charged with murder in the Dec. 30, 2020, shooting death of Frank Edwards, 20. Edwards was one of a group of people who had reportedly been arguing with two people in a vehicle. He was shot and killed in the yard of a house on 12th Avenue South.
The third and fourth murder indictments were Da’Quavious Robertson, 18, and Dorian Williams, 16. They were both indicted in the July 9, 2021, killing of Quinshawn Lucious, 22, on Swedenburg Circle. Williams was also indicted for aggravated assault.
Robertson and Williams were arrested separately the week following the shooting. Sheriff Eddie Hawkins said at the time that the suspects were identified in part through footage from Ring Doorbell camera systems.
Steven Bradley Carley, 35, was indicted for conspiracy to commit murder, possession of a weapon by a felon and attempted murder. He was arrested for a Nov. 19, 2020, shooting on Old West Point Road. Deputies were dispatched to a home and found a man shot after an alleged argument, The Dispatch reported at the time. The victim was airlifted to a hospital out of the area for treatment.
In other felony indictments:
■Laquincy Markell Washington and James Jyshun Smith, both of West Point, were indicted for armed robbery, two counts of robbery and felony taking of a motor vehicle.
■Taveon Y. Macon, 20, was indicted for three counts of aggravated assault.
■James Gino Smith, Jr., 20, was indicted for three counts of aggravated assault, armed robbery and felony taking of a motor vehicle.
■Dalon Rashaun Moore, 27, was indicted for felony taking of a motor vehicle and burglary of an occupied dwelling.
