A 65-year-old Columbus woman died at the hospital Tuesday afternoon following a head-on collision on Highway 45 at 18th Avenue North.
Rosemary Lewis, the deceased, and her 70-year-old husband, Lee Lewis, were making a left turn onto 18th Avenue from Highway 45 when their Toyota Camry was hit by a northbound Chevrolet Silverado driven by 22-year-old Trah Blunt, according to police Lt. Selvain McQueen.
She was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle where she was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma at 2:32 p.m. by Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant.
Her husband and Blunt were treated for injuries that were not life threatening. Their conditions were not immediately available this morning.
