COLUMBUS — Mississippi University for Women women’s soccer announced Thursday the hire of interim head coach Aron Bassoff.
Bassoff has coached for more than two decades, including 17 years as a collegiate head coach.
“We are excited to welcome Coach Bassoff to the Owls’ family,” MUW Athletic Director Jennifer Claybrook said in Thursday’s press release. “I believe his breadth of experience will help our program to take that next step as we head into our first season as a full NCAA Division III member…Likewise, his proven commitment to academic excellence mirrors our department’s philosophy and goals.”
Throughout his coaching career, Bassoff has recorded 176 wins in 17 seasons, earning three conference or regional championships, led numerous nationally ranked teams and coached three conference Player of the Year recipients.
His most recent stop came at Division II Alderson Broaddus, and previous to that, Blue Mountain Christian, in 2021.
“I am very pleased to be able to coach the women’s soccer team at The W,” Bassoff said in Thursday’s press release. “I have been impressed with the progress over the last couple of years and feel that there is a lot of potential for the program moving forward. I am hoping for a very successful year in our first year of competition in the SLIAC.”
