It’s transfer portal season for Mississippi State baseball.
According to Pete Nakos of On3 Sports, 10 Bulldogs have entered the portal, and six will be making their way to Starkville in 2027. Here’s a look at who’s in and who’s out.
Outgoing
Pitchers
LHP Charlie Foster – The sophomore started nine games, appearing in 15 for the Bulldogs in 2026. He had an ERA of 6.69 over 36.1 innings of work.
RHP Peyton Fowler – Fowler appeared in seven games for State. He pitched 6.1 total innings with a 2.84 ERA. The junior spent his first two years at Meridian Community College.
RHP Chris Billingsley – Billingsley had a 6.08 ERA over 23.2 innings of work. He transferred to MSU after two seasons at East Central Community College.
RHP Patrick Spencer Jr. – Did not record any stats in 2026.
RHP Jackson Logar – Logar pitched just one inning in 2026, walking a batter and striking out three.
LHP Dane Burns – Burns appeared in 28 games out of the bullpen for the Bulldogs last season. He had a 3.52 ERA.
RHP Tyler Pitzer – Pitzer appeared in 22 games, starting two. He had a 3.90 ERA and 38 total strikeouts.
Position players
UTL Peter Mershon – Mershon, a freshman from Taylors, South Carolina, appeared in 10 games with one start. He hit .300 with six RBIs in his 10 at bats.
OF James Nunnallee (Committed to TCU) – Nunnallee spent his sophomore year at MSU after following Head Coach Brian O’Connor from Virginia. He played in 29 games, starting 10, and hit .241 with a .359 on base percentage.
Catcher Andrew Raymond (Committed to North Carolina State) – The sophomore started 10 games, and had 22 total appearances. He hit .348 with a .543 slugging percentage. He transferred to MSU for 2026 after a year at George Mason.
Infielder Nick Frontino – Announced his name in the portal on Thursday, and has not yet been added to the On3 database. Did not play in 2026.
Incoming
RHP Zach Russell (from South Carolina) – Russell comes to Starkville as a junior. He appeared in 25 games for the Gamecocks with a 2.53 ERA.
OF Jake Souders (from Samford) – Souders is jumping from Bulldogs to Bulldogs, joining State with two years of eligibility. He played in and started 45 games for Samford in 2026. He hit .349 with seven home runs.
DH Brady Christman (from Georgia Southern) – Christman was the 2026 Freshman of the Year and a first team All-Sun Belt player at Georgia Southern. He’ll come to Starkville as a sophomore, hitting .384 with 12 home runs and 44 RBIs.
Two-way player Josiah Overbeek (from Army) – Overbeek both pitched and hit for the Army Black Knights his freshman year. He was a freshman All-American after hitting 17 home runs, 44 RBIs and pitching 21.0 innings.
RHP Carson Fair (from Memphis) – Appeared in 22 games as a junior. Had a 3.51 ERA and 28 strikeouts.
Infielder Nolan Grawe (from South Dakota State) – Was an All-Summit League First Team selection as a sophomore. Hit .323 with 65 hits and 46 RBIs last season.
