Starkville High School indoor track and field competed in the Ice Breaker Invitational at the Metro Crossplex in Birmingham, Ala. over the weekend, recording two second place finishes at the event.
The Yellow Jackets were led by 60-meter sprint competitor Taniya Turner and the 800-meter relay team of Turner, Dukerria Tucker, Jocelyn Randle and Emerald Owens.
Turner placed second, six hundredths of a second faster than teammate Randle, with a time of 7.97 seconds. The 800-meter relay team finished with a time of 1:48.78, another podium finish.
On the boys side, Giles Jones finished sixth in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:41, and the 800-meter relay team of Sylar Watt, Mekhi Edwards, Amarion Neal and James Farrington finished sixth with a time of 1:36.19.
