STARKVILLE — Starkville High School boys and girls cross country opened its season at Tupelo High School Thursday for the TCPS Twilight XC Invitational.
Among competing teams, the Yellow Jackets boys team finished second of 18 teams, and the girls team finished ninth overall.
Starkville had two boys runners finish in the top three individually for the boys 5K, Giles Jones, the second-place finisher and Harlan Tagert, the third-place finisher. Additionally, Scott McDonnall finished eighth for the boys’ run.
Of the girls runners, Francie Tagert was the top finisher for the Jackets in 37th place.
In the middle school competition, the boys team placed fourth overall and the girls team finished second.
Starkville’s next cross country meet is the Saltillo Invitational on Sept. 16.
