MABEN — New Hope baseball shut out East Webster, 5-0, on Tuesday night behind the pitching heroics of Austin Minichino.
He allowed no runs, one hit and one walk in four innings of work, striking out nine for the Trojans. Offensively, Landon Moore led New Hope with two hits.
New Hope will travel to play Nettleton in its next game at 6 p.m. Friday.

MOOREVILLE — Starkville Academy gave up three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning as it lost to Mooreville, 6-5, on Tuesday.
Briggs Bennett had a strong game offensively, recording two hits and two RBIs.
Starkville Academy will host Pillow Academy in its game at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
Caledonia 9, Tupelo Christian Prep 6
BELDEN — Caledonia baseball defeated Tupelo Christian Prep in a barnburner, 9-6, on the road on Tuesday night.
Zack Gorum had himself a game on the mound for the Cavaliers, striking out 14 and giving up just one run in five innings of work. He allowed three hits and two walks, earning the win.
Caledonia will host Pickens County (Alabama) in its next game Friday.

Prep softball
Starkville 28-20, Noxubee County 2-0
MACON — In a dominant doubleheader performance, Starkville softball defeated Noxubee County by a combined score of 48-2 in two games, winning those games 28-2 and 20-0, respectively.
The Yellow Jackets needed just five hits in the second game to win compared to 19 in the first game of the doubleheader. Winning pitchers Olivia Mattison and Marion Tate combined to strike out eight batters in the two games.
Starkville will travel to play West Point in its next game at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
Prep tennis
Heritage Academy 5, MSMS 2
Heritage Academy tennis defeated Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science, 5-2, on Tuesday afternoon at Magnolia Tennis Club.
In both girls and boys singles, the Blue Waves took the victory, with Blair Diffrient defeating Kaylee West, 6-1, 6-3, and Sebastian Harvey defeating Spencer Ward, 6-2, 6-4.
In doubles, Heritage cleaned up. The Patriots swept one of the two girls doubles matches, won the other in a tiebreaking third set and won both boys doubles matches in straight sets.
In mixed doubles, Heritage also won in three sets over MSMS.
The Patriots will next travel to face French Camp Academy on Thursday.
