Mississippi University for Women assistant golf coach Scott Milam demonstrated his own expertise as a player last week, riding a late push to win the 2025 Gulf States Assistant PGA Professional Championship at the Money Hill Golf & Country Club in Abita Springs, Louisiana.

Milam finished with a total score of 133, finishing 11-under-par after heading to the 18th hole tied with Grayson Glorioso. Milam made his par putt to earn the title after Glorioso’s bogey. He came out on top of a record field of 44 PGA Assistant Professionals and Associates competing at the tournament.
“I am very thankful to be working at The W,” Milam said in a university release. “I appreciate (MUW) giving me the opportunity to join the PGA association to help further my professional, as well as playing career, along with representing MUW and the standards we strive for as an organization and program.”
Milam, a Tupelo native, is in his fourth season as a member of the Owls’ coaching staff, working under head coach Benji Williams for both the men’s and women’s squads. Milam has helped the program grow into an NCAA Division III power, winning back-to-back St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships, as well as two consecutive trips to the NCAA Division III national championships.
