For the eighth straight year, Mississippi State’s men’s golf team is heading to the NCAA Tournament.
After bowing out in the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament, the Bulldogs earned a No. 7 seed and are headed to the Bermuda Run Regional in Winston-Salem, N.C., joining a list of 14 other teams. No. 6 seed Wake Forest is the host of the regional. Match play runs from May 18-20 and the top five finishers will advance to the national championship tournament in Carlsbad, Ca.
“Making the NCAA Tournament is not something we take for granted,” head coach Dusty Smith said. “This team overcame a lot this season but stuck to our process throughout. It’s always a goal to be playing our best golf at the end of the year, and I feel like our guys are doing just that.”
Virginia holds down the No. 1 seed and reigning SEC champion and rival Ole Miss is slotted as the No. 2 seed. Pepperdine, Georgia Tech and USC all round out the top five seeds. The last seven spots belong to Little Rock, North Carolina State, Kentucky, Houston, Richmond, Navy and Presbyterian.
