Mississippi State wide receiver Malik Heath was injured in a car accident Thursday and is receiving medical treatment, the MSU football team confirmed.
The team is still gathering more information, and no details were immediately available on Heath’s condition.
Heath’s family members appeared to address the news on Facebook on Thursday night, saying Heath was airlifted to a Memphis-area hospital after the crash.
The Clarion Ledger reported Friday that Heath was crossing Highway 25 when his car was hit on the driver’s side door by Mitchell Voelker of Tupelo. Heath was transported to OCH Regional Medical Center before being airlifted.
Heath, a senior wide receiver from Jackson, has caught 34 passes for 442 yards and five touchdowns this season.
