Riley Kugel became the latest Mississippi State player to enter the transfer portal Wednesday, making him the sixth Bulldog to go into the portal since MSU’s season ended on Mar. 21 with a first-round loss in the NCAA Tournament against Baylor.
Kugel, who joined the Bulldogs last offseason as a transfer from Florida, averaged 9.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game in 33 appearances, including 14 starts. He had three outings of at least 20 points, including a home win in January against Ole Miss in which he drilled a go-ahead 3-pointer in overtime.
His performances were up and down late in the season, and he endured a shooting slump that lasted throughout most of February. Kugel did have a strong game in the loss to Baylor, with 11 points on 3-for-5 from behind the arc.

Reserves Jeremy Foumena and Adrian Myers also entered the portal this week, joining Kanye Clary, Martavious Russell and Michael Nwoko, who has already found a new home at LSU.

Star guard Josh Hubbard, coming off a sophomore season in which he averaged 18.9 points per game, announced Tuesday that he will be entering the 2025 NBA Draft while maintaining his college eligibility.
Essentially, that means he will go through pre-draft workouts and get evaluations from scouts, and return to MSU if he sees that as the best option. Former Bulldogs star post player Tolu Smith did the same thing two years ago and opted to return to MSU for his final college season.
