COLUMBUS — The newly established Lowndes County Sports Hall of Fame announced a date for the induction of its inaugural class of honorees.
The inaugural ceremony is scheduled for Good Friday, April 18, 2025, at the Trotter Convention Center in downtown Columbus.
“We believe the Trotter is perfectly suited for this event with its size and location,” said LCSHOF Vice President Trip Hairston. “Scheduling events around other activities is sometimes difficult, however, usually springtime events are always well attended and Friday nights are usually synonymous with sporting events.”
According to the release, Hairston made a down payment to reserve the Trotter for the banquet.
The banquet is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. and the admission price is $30 per person.
The inaugural class will consist of 10-15 members selected in December through the nomination process.
The Hall of Fame is also seeking sponsors for the banquet, announcing several sponsorship tiers in the press release.
“The sponsorship levels are Super Bowl Sponsor for $7,500, Grand Slam Sponsor for $5,000, Slam Dunk Sponsor for $3,000, Hole-in-One Sponsor for $1,000 and Goalie Sponsor for $500.”
The deadline for sponsorships is Oct. 31, 2024.
“We want to thank all of the individuals, businesses and organizations who have supported and encouraged us to help make the first induction class a reality,” organization president Glenn Lautzenhiser said. “The achievements and successes of so many in Lowndes County who contributed to athletic excellence need to be recognized by our community.”
