Few surprising outcomes Friday
night meant few changes when this
week’s A P Mississippi Prep Football
Top 10 Poll was released Tuesday.
Starkville remained at No. 4 while
West Point held on to No. 6 as the top
nine teams stayed the same. The only
change came at No. 10, where previous–
ly unranked Madison-Ridgeland Acade–
my and Picayune are tied.
There also were very few changes
in the class rankings, with the top five
remaining intact from last week in 6A,
4A, 3A, 2A and among private schools.
The change in 5A saw Picayune move
into No. 3, changing places with No.
4 Neshoba Central, while in 1A Lum–
berton stayed at No. 3 while McEvans,
which had shared that ranking, slipped
to No. 5. Biggersville moved from No.
5 to No. 4.
Starkville held on to the No. 3 rank–
ing among the state’s Class 6A teams
after its 28 -21 win at Tupelo.
West Point is back at No. 1 in Class
5A after a 48 -41 win over Cleveland
Central, getting seven of the 10 first-
place votes. West Jones received the
other three first-place votes and stayed
at No. 2, four points behind the Green
Wave.
In Class 3A, Noxubee County kept
its No. 5 ranking after defeating Kem–
per County 22-14. West Lowndes is re–

Heritage Academy’s 35 -9 win over
