WEST POINT — Former Mississippi State cornerback Johnthan Banks has been arrested and charged with domestic violence and aggravated assault according to Clay County Jail records.
Banks, who last played at MSU during the 2012 season, was booked into the Clay County Jail at 8:08 a.m. Wednesday morning.
A former standout at East Webster High School, he spent four years with the Bulldogs — earning first team All-SEC and second team All-American honors in 2012. Banks totaled 242 tackles, 15 interceptions and 45 passes defended during his MSU career.
A second round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, Banks spent parts of five seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears and Houston Texans.
He also spent the spring of 2018 as a cornerbacks coach at Starkville High School, though he did not return in the fall.
A Mississippi State Athletics spokesman told The Dispatch Wednesday morning that the university had no comment on the matter.
