Mississippi State Track and Field finished its season off last weekend in the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., with a few more All-American honors.
The Bulldogs’ 4×100 squad finished in fifth-place in the NCAA Outdoor Championship finals on Friday. Sophomore Nickolas Fakorede, senior Kibren Moore, freshman Gabe Scott and senior Sherman Hawkins Jr. ran a 39.04 mark, good for first-team All-American Honors.
The relay team built off their program record first round run on Wednesday. The Bulldogs ran a program best 38.73 to qualify for Friday’s final.
Freshman Kahlil Antoine competed in both the triple and high jump. He hit a personal record with a 2.19m jump in the high jump, which placed him tied for seventh. The jump was the fifth highest in program history.
Senior thrower Kevin Grubbs finished ninth and was named a second-team All-American for his performance in the discus finals. He threw a program record 61.71m mark in the third round of the finals.
Senior Manie Mevo concluded State’s season in the triple jump on Saturday. She jumped 12.87m, finishing 17th in the competition.
The standout performer from the entire championships was Marie Rougetet. She finished third place in the hammer throw with a 69.71 throw on Thursday. She became the first Bulldog in program history to earn a podium finish and first-team All-American honors in the hammer throw.
During the NCAA championships, MSU had three podium finishes.
