Two Mississippi State football alumni are now pro football champions.
Cornerbacks DeAgo Brumfield and Cameron Dantzler won the United Football League’s United Bowl with the Louisville Kings on Saturday. The Kings defeated the reigning champion D.C. Defenders in a 27-20 comeback effort.
Dantzler, who spent 2016-19 in Starkville, was instrumental in the Kings taking the UFL crown. Dantzler recovered a fumble for a touchback in the first quarter. He made his biggest play early in the fourth, intercepting a deep-ball attempt with a four-point lead. Dantzler returned the interception 49 yards, setting up a Kings’ touchdown on the next drive.
Dantzler played in all 12 games for the Kings in the regular and postseason. He had 24 solo tackles, two interceptions and nine pass breakups.
Dantzler saw action in three of his four seasons in Starkville. He earned second-team All-SEC honors for his 2018 sophomore season, his best season as a Bulldog. He had 43 total tackles, 11 passes defended and two interceptions.
Brumfield didn’t record any stats in the United Bowl, but played in both of the Kings’ postseason games. His best game in Louisville came in the regular season finale against the Columbus Aviators, where he tallied five total tackles and a pass breakup.
He played with Mississippi State from 2024-25. In 2025, Brumfield had 36 total tackles and an interception.
