STARKVILLE — Last week, Mississippi State women’s soccer added two new players to its 2024 signing class.
The first happened on Wednesday, when Rutgers sophomore defender Naila Schoefberger announced on Instagram that after two years in Piscataway, the Lutz, Florida, product is heading to Starkville following a season where she appeared in 17 matches for the Scarlet Knights.
Schoefberger started eight matches, getting significant playing time until her final eight matches of the season, where she logged no more than 22 minutes in any of them. She also came off the bench in four matches as a freshman.
Born in Vienna, Austria, Schoefberger has played on Austria’s U17 and U19 national teams.
The second announcement came on Friday night from Oklahoma sophomore forward Chelsea Wagner, who announced her intention to transfer to MSU with two years of eligibility remaining.
Wagner is coming off her second season with the Sooners, having played in 11 matches while logging just 170 minutes of playing time.
She was a consistent mainstay as a freshman with OU, recording three goals and two assists in 19 matches played, starting in seven while mainly featuring as a super sub.
According to Top Drawer Soccer, the Leawood, Kansas, native was the No. 12 recruit in the Heartland Region for the Class of 2022, earning all-region and all-state honors while being named a two-time Offensive Player of the Year on her team.
