Two Columbus men face aggravated assault charges after firing into an occupied vehicle Thursday, according to a police department press release.
Neshawn Beckwith, 20, was arrested Thursday and charged with two counts of aggravated assault. Donderion Fisher, 18, turned himself in to the police department Friday morning, Columbus Police Department Public Information Officer Bryan Moore told The Dispatch. Fisher was also charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of shooting into an occupied vehicle, Moore said.
Officers responded to Summerhaven Drive at about 2:45 p.m. Thursday after receiving reports of shots fired. Moore said witnesses at the scene saw a blue Dodge Challenger leaving the area after its occupants fired into another vehicle with two people inside.
No injuries were reported.
A Lowndes County sheriff’s deputy spotted the vehicle later near the area of Crowe and Yorkville roads. The deputy stopped the vehicle, and Fisher fled on foot from the passenger side of the vehicle. The deputy arrested Beckwith and transferred him to CPD custody.
Both suspects are being held at the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center awaiting their initial appearance.
