Two Columbus men are in custody following separate domestic incidents Saturday involving weapons, according to a press release Columbus Police Department issued Tuesday.
Keoliver Billups, 32, faces two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly injuring two victims with a knife during an altercation. Donald Sherrod, 23, is charged with aggravated domestic assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly shooting his stepfather.
In the Billups case, police responded to a 911 call at about 9:30 p.m. reporting multiple victims had been cut during a domestic dispute at the 1600 block of 23rd Street North.
On the scene, officers administered first aid to two victims with knife wounds while waiting for emergency services, CPD Public Information Officer Bryan Moore said. The first victim, Billups’ sister, suffered a cut on her left leg while the second was cut on the back of his head.
Both victims were taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle for treatment and have since been released.
Billups was arrested at the scene, Moore said. He is being held at the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center awaiting his initial court appearance.
Earlier Saturday evening, at about 7:30, police responded to a separate domestic disturbance call at the 400 block of Idlewild Road.
At the scene, officers found Sherrod’s stepfather had suffered a single gunshot wound to his torso during an altercation between the two. The victim was taken to be treated for the injury at BHM-GT.
Sherrod was arrested on the scene, Moore said, and is also being held at the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center awaiting his initial appearance in court.
