COLUMBUS – Police have identified a second suspect in a Sept. 28 murder and are asking for the public’s help to capture him.
Investigators have identified the second suspect as LaRon S. Baity, according to a press release issued Wednesday. He is wanted in the murder of 16-year-old Marquez Carter Jr.
Officers responded to a report of gunshots Sept. 28 at an apartment complex on Constance Lane. When they arrived, they found Carter and another teen suffering from gunshot wounds.
Carter was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other teen was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle for treatment.
Police arrested Jackoby Moore, 19, for murder and aggravated assault, after the initial investigation revealed he and a second suspect drove to Constance Lane and opened fire, the press release said. At that time, CPD released a photo of the unidentified person of interest, which they have now identified as Baity.
Anyone with information on Baity’s whereabouts can contact CPD at (662) 244-3500 or Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at (800) 530-7151. Tips can be submitted anonymously.
