A man is behind bars following a Monday shooting on South Lehmberg Road.
Paul Eggleston Jr., 35, was charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon by a felon, according to a Wednesday press release from Columbus Police Department.
Officers responded to reports of shots fired at the 300 block of South Lehmberg Road. Bullet casings and a damaged vehicle were found in the area, but no injuries were reported.
After an initial investigation, CPD arrested Eggleston, who was booked at Lowndes County Adult Detention Center with bond set at $50,000. Additional arrests are expected in the case, the press release said.
The press release did not specify what time the crime happened, what evidence led investigators to Eggleston’s arrest or where he was arrested. When reached by The Dispatch on Thursday, Police Chief Joseph Daughtry said the department has no additional information to share about the shooting.
CPD’s investigation remains ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact CPD at (662) 244-3500 or Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at (800) 530-7151.
