Police are searching for a man accused of strangling his girlfriend and threatening her with a weapon during a domestic dispute.
A warrant was issued Tuesday for Deandre Dawan Stancil on a charge of alleged aggravated domestic violence, according to a Columbus Police Department press release.
Just after 8 a.m. Tuesday, a woman reported to CPD she was physically assaulted by Stancil, her boyfriend, during an argument.
Public Information Officer Bryan Moore said Stancil allegedly threatened the woman with a gun and strangled her. The strangulation and use of a weapon elevated the charge to aggravated domestic violence, he said.
The investigation is ongoing, and Stancil is considered armed and dangerous.
Anyone with information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts is asked to contact CPD at (662) 244-3500 or Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at (800) 530-7151.
