A pedestrian who was killed Saturday after being struck while walking on the side of Highway 50 has been identified.
Craig Alan Friederichsen, 63, died at the scene, Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant wrote in a text to media outlets.
Friederichson was homeless, and he had been staying in a small building off of Tuscaloosa Road, Merchant wrote. It is unknown where he was going when he was struck.
Friederichsen’s name had not previously been released, as the coroner’s office spent five days working to locate and notify family members out of state, Merchant said.
