A Lowndes County man was arrested for allegedly setting up a video camera in his home and filming people — including children — without their permission.
Deputies with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office arrested Charles Richard Dobbins, 50, of 119 King’s Path, Monday and charged him with one count of exploitation of children and photographing or filming another without permission.
Deputies received a 911 call alerting them Dobbin had set up a camera in his home in a room where “you would expect privacy” and filmed people without their knowledge or consent, LCSO Capt. Ryan Rickert said. Investigators are not sure yet when Dobbin set up the camera, Rickert said. He didn’t specify how many people the suspect allegedly filmed.
Rickert also did not release the ages of the children involved but said the oldest was a teenager.
Exploitation of children is a crime carrying a maximum sentence of 40 years, Rickert said, while filming someone without their knowledge could lead to five years in prison.
Dobbins has been released from Lowndes County Adult Detention Center after posting $50,000 bond.
