Paloma Green has joined The Dispatch newsroom staff as a general assignment reporter.
In her role, Green will cover news, features and enterprise stories across the Golden Triangle. Her first day was Monday.
A native of New York, Green graduated in May from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. There, she worked at UBC’s student newspaper, The Ubyssey, as both a reporter and features editor. During her time in college, she also interned with Newsweek.
“I wanted to work somewhere where I would get an opportunity to cover real stories and be part of a community,” Green said. “The Dispatch does great work. There are fewer and fewer real ‘newspapers’ in the county, and I can’t tell you how excited I am to be here.
Green said she looks forward to becoming a part of the Golden Triangle community.
“I want to report what’s going on to the people that need to know. And I want to do it in a way that makes a positive impact,” she said. “From a personal point of view, I always want to strive to be a better journalist. Asking the tough questions and writing them up in a way that everyone can understand is not as easy as it sounds. You can always improve, and I look forward to learning from the great people in The Dispatch’s newsroom.”
Managing Editor Zack Plair said Green has been a great fit in the newsroom.
“Paloma is a hard worker, and she is already fitting in so well with our newsroom,” he said. “She has been a welcome addition to our team.”
