Four men were arrested in connection to a Tuesday night shooting on North McCrary Road.
Police responded to reports of shots fired at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Ready Mart, located at 227 N. McCrary Road, according to a Columbus Police Department press release. Officers detained four suspects who were later taken into custody, the release said. No injuries were reported.
CPD did not release the identities of suspects upon request. However, only four city inmates have been booked in the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center on violent charges since the alleged shooting, according to the jail log.
Marcus Alaric Hill, 19, Lewayne Robertson, 21, Joseph McQuentin Brooks Jr., 18, and Janeko Larone Williams, 38, were each charged with one count of aggravated assault with extreme indifference to life. All four were booked between 12:52 and 1:52 a.m. Each remains in custody.
Hill was out on bond after previously being charged with three counts of aggravated assault and one count of shooting into a vehicle following a January shooting on Redwood Street in East Columbus.
Robertson was previously charged with four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection to a September shooting at Spotlight Barbershop.
Police Chief Joseph Daughtry declined to answer follow-up questions on the incident and said all updates on the investigation will be made through the Columbus Police Department Facebook page, according to Columbus Public Information Officer Shawanda Jones.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information pertaining to the shooting is asked to contact CPD at (662) 244-3500 or Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at (800) 530-7151.
