A deputy trying to assist in a pursuit Tuesday was involved in a three-vehicle collision.
The accident happened at about 3:30 p.m. at the Tuscaloosa and West Lehmberg intersection, Sheriff Eddie Hawkins told The Dispatch.
A deputy was pursuing a vehicle that was refusing to stop when another deputy responded to assist, Hawkins said. The assisting deputy was driving east on Tuscaloosa Road when a civilian vehicle exiting the Highway 82 ramp collided with the patrol car. The impact caused the civilian vehicle to strike a third car, Hawkins said.
Hawkins said no injuries were reported, but each of the three vehicles were damaged. Both deputies involved in the pursuit had engaged their vehicle’s lights and sirens, he said.
The driver involved in the pursuit eventually pulled over and was cited, Hawkins said.
