Jobseekers across the Golden Triangle are invited to attend a city-sponsored job fair next week at the Trotter Convention Center.
The event is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon April 30 on the upper level of the Trotter, located at 402 Second Ave N.
Glenda Richardson, community liaison for Columbus Police Department, said she hopes to see a strong turn out for the event.
“Last year we had a really great job fair, (and) we’re expecting more people this year because we know … (prices) have gone up,” Richardson told The Dispatch on Tuesday. “… We just want all of our citizens, not just here in Columbus but in the Golden Triangle, to be self-sufficient.”
Between 25 and 30 businesses have registered for the event so far, including representatives from city departments, 4-County Electric Power Association, Steel Dynamics, Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle and more, Richardson said.
Employers will provide information about current job openings as well as general career paths for high school, college students and the broader public.
The city will accept requests from businesses to participate in the job fair through April 28.
“We want as many companies to come … help our citizens get jobs as want to come,” Richardson said.
Participation is free. Businesses interested in participating should contact Richardson at (662) 364-1850. Table and chairs will be provided for each business.
