A Caledonia man has been charged with murder in a Tuesday homicide.
Phillip Shane House, 36, was charged Friday with the killing of his girlfriend, Summer Danielle Tennyson, 39, according to Sheriff Eddie Hawkins.
House was already in custody at the time he became a person of interest in the murder, Hawkins said. He had been arrested Tuesday night on warrants from Clay County.
“Clay County had warrants on him for some traffic violations that he didn’t show up (in court) for and didn’t pay his fines,” Hawkins said.
Hawkins declined to comment on a motive for the crime.
Deputies responded to 40 Grant Drive about 11 a.m. after a 911 call reported someone was unresponsive. When they arrived they found Tennyson dead of a single gunshot wound.
Coroner Greg Merchant said he thought Tennyson had been killed early Tuesday morning. The body has been sent to the state medical examiner’s office in Pearl, and an autopsy is scheduled for next week.
“Tennyson was a mother of four and this was a tragic and senseless murder,” Hawkins said.
House was denied bond, Hawkins said.
