Dispatch Staff Report

Columbus Chief Financial Officer Milton Rawle will not serve his city council-ordered suspension until at least January.

Multiple city officials confirmed to The Dispatch Rawle will remain at work through December to be available for auditors conducting the annual look at the city's books and to complete year-end tasks.

The city council suspended Rawle for 16 working days, without pay, on Tuesday, in the wake of revelations the city operated at a nearly $881,000 deficit in Fiscal Year 2018, which ended Sept. 30. Rawle did not present that information to the council until late November, when he asked them to amend the budget for the already completed fiscal year.

Rawle's suspension will extend to four calendar weeks, since the city operates on a four-day work week.
