STARKVILLE — The victim in an aggravated assault outside a convenience store earlier this month has now been charged with aggravated assault.
Marcus Bell Jr., 18, was arrested by Starkville police officers Wednesday after being released from OCH Regional Medical Center, where he was being treated for his gunshot wound. He is the third suspect arrested in the incident.
A verbal argument among three teenagers April 1 in the parking lot of the Sprint Mart at Highway 182 and Old Mayhew Road turned violent, according to police. All three teenagers allegedly pulled out firearms and started firing at each other, said Brandon Lovelady, public information officer with the police department. When officers arrived, they found Bell wounded.
Officers arrested Jordan Young, 17, and Javion Rice, 18, on April 3, charging them with aggravated assault. Police waited to arrest Bell until after he received medical care, Lovelady said.
Bell is being held in Oktibbeha County Jail on $100,000 bond. Young and Rice were released on bond, the jail confirmed.
