Get ready to bust out the brown paper and cloth bags folks, the Aldi grocery store located at 607 Hwy. 12 opened on Dec. 13, just before Christmas.
I got the chance to explore the new store Wednesday in the Triangle Crossing Shopping Center with all its fresh vegetables and quirky snacks lining aisle after aisle right after paying a quarter to use its iconic pay-to-use shopping carts.
But Aldi isn’t the only tasty update going into Triangle Crossing. El Rodeo, a Mexican restaurant, is coming soon.
The business filed a building permit on Dec. 7 to fully renovate and build out the interior of the space located next to the Aldi at the corner of the shopping center.
I tried contacting the contractor for the construction of the restaurant, Mark Kozevski, but never heard back. When I drove by the future business, I saw no sign of anyone working on site just yet. Looks like we will have to wait and see what happens next.
In the Cotton District, Arepas located at 102 Rue Du Grande Fromage, temporarily closed on Dec. 19. But fear not, Owner Jose Elarba told me the Venezuelan cafe plans to reopen on Jan. 10 just in time for Mississippi State to begin its spring semester.
“We are closed for the holidays to spend time with our family’s, my family and my wife’s family side, and recharge energy before starting a new year ready for what it will bring to us and everybody,” Elarba said.
Elsewhere in Starkville, State Urgent Care located at 521 Montgomery St. S., is offering end-of-the-year/holiday discounts on some of its cosmetic services. Customers who come to the business before Dec. 31 can expect to find discounts on hydration IVs for $50, $11 a unit for botox and a free lip flip for any purchases of more than $200, just to name a few.
Finally, my friend’s waste management business, Stages Solutions, is currently offering specialized discounts to folks affected by the recent freeze.
Owner Brittany Jade Stage posted the announcement on Facebook on Dec. 27 and is offering customers discounts on dumpster rentals, cleaning services, gravel and dirt hauling and other hauling services for commercial and residential work.
“We understand how frustrating busted pipes can be because we are dealing with it too,” she wrote in the post. “Let us make it a little easier for you.”
For those interested, they should message her or the business on its Facebook page.
Well, folks, I’m going to head on in before the cold snaps again. Make sure to check back in next week for more goings on in business.
