A man is dead and another wounded after a late-night shooting outside the Legends nightclub, according to Columbus Police Chief Fred Shelton.
Police were called to the 2000 block of 13th Avenue North around 11:30 p.m. Sunday for a report of a gunshot victim. When officers arrived they found Robert Andrew Roby, 29, of Columbus lying in the street. He died at the scene, Shelton said.
A second man with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle, where he was treated and released, Shelton said.
Shelton said a video was circulating on Facebook that showed three men in a fight before the shooting erupted, and police are trying to identify the shooter from that footage.
He also said that James Overstreet, of Columbus, had been arrested and charged with aggravated assault in connection with the incident.
He had a weapon, Shelton said, but it was not clear if he had fired the fatal shot.
Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant said Roby’s body will be transported to the state medical examiner’s office for autopsy.
