Columbus Girlchoir will present its spring concert, which will include sections of The Little Jazz Mass by Bob Chilcott, at 4 p.m. May 4 in the Artz Fellowship Hall of First Methodist Church. The concert is free and open to the public.
Ten singers from the Girlchoir will travel to New Orleans in June to perform this work with the composer at the Crescent City Choral Festival, celebrating the 20th anniversary of this composition written for the festival. They will be joined by 12 choirs from across the country.
The Columbus Girlchoir was founded in 2004 by Cherry Dunn, who serves as executive and artistic director. Dunn is assisted by Tina Morgan, assistant director and Ellen Hawkins, accompanist. The Girlchoir is open to girls from 9 to 18 in the Golden Triangle area and provides quality vocal training. For more information, go to columbusgirlchoir.org.
