What happened to Sportsplex?

A few years ago the new director of the Columbus-Lowndes Recreation Authority made a pitch to the city/county officials, that we need to invest in a “Sportsplex” complex for our youth. This complex would be a great asset for the city/county. It would bring in ASA and Dizzy Dean ball and much tax money. (And would not require additional alcohol sales!)

I’m surprised our Dispatch editor printed Janice Floyd’s letter in Friday’s Voice. The writer was calling folks liars and racists who disagree with the backward policies of this president. I think the letter revealed more about the writer than anyone else. Why would the editor print something like that without specific examples and evidence to prove the accusations are true? Must have just overlooked it.

A tip to Crime Stoppers has landed a Columbus man in jail.

Lackendrick Andrew Bankhead, 29, of 15 Pandora Drive in Columbus, was arrested Tuesday by the Columbus Police Department on one count of embezzlement.

I catered a luncheon for 90 recently, and the preparations went swimmingly for the most part. As is true to form for me I was totally organized for the first three days of cooking, and then I tend to sort of fall apart the last 24 hours. So, the afternoon prior to the event I had to run out to the grocery store for a couple of items I had left off of the previous list. I did the unthinkable: I went to the store without a list!
