A Columbus man was arrested over the weekend on charges of possession and public drunkenness while police were responding to an unrelated call.
Reno Spencer, 31, of 643 W. Jess Lyons Road in Columbus, was arrested Sunday on charges of possession of cocaine, false information and public drunkenness.
Spencer was spotted in front of Slick Daddy”s club, 112 22nd St., early Sunday morning as officers responded to a call next door at the Grey Goose club, 106 22nd St. N. Officers spotted pills on the ground near Spencer and, upon searching the suspect, found a small bag of cocaine and more pills.
Spencer also was wanted for three outstanding Justice Court warrants for sale of cocaine.
Spencer is being held at the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center. No bond or court date has been set.
Other incidents
The following other felony arrests and incidents were reported by the Columbus Police Department.
n Lamar Harrell, 25, of 401 Forrest Court in Columbus, was arrested Saturday by the Columbus Police Department on one charge of felony taking a motor vehicle.
Harrell turned himself in to the CPD at 2:20 p.m. Saturday after his mother reported he had taken her vehicle from her home without permission.
Harrell is being held at the LCADC. No bond or court date has been set.
n An officer was dispatched to the Grey Goose, at 106 22nd St. S., Wednesday in reference to burglary of a business.
Entry was gained by kicking in the rear door of the building. Several cases of beer were stolen from the business.
n An officer was dispatched to the 1300 block of Third Avenue North Thursday in reference to burglary of an auto.
Entry was gained through an unlocked car door. A Kenwood radio was reported stolen from the vehicle.
n An officer was dispatched to Shelter Insurance, at 702 Highway 45 N., Thursday in reference to burglary of multiple businesses.
Entry was gained by breaking out an office window on the North side of the building. An undisclosed amount of change was taken from the business.
Wheat Insurance, in the same building as Shelter Insurance, also was burglarized.
Entry was gained into Wheat Insurance by breaking out the glass door inside the building. An undisclosed amount of change was taken from a money box located inside the business.
n An officer was dispatched to the CPD Thursday to speak with a subject in reference to burglary of an auto.
The complainant reported she had parked her 1992 Honda Accord at the East Columbus Gym located on Lawrence Drive. When she returned, she noticed someone had stolen her Sony CD player. Entry was gained through the rear passenger side window.
n An officer was dispatched to Johnson Truck Leasing, located at 1444 Highway 69 S., Friday in reference to a stolen tractor trailer
The complainant last saw the tractor trailer parked on his lot Thursday.
n An officer was dispatched to Days Inn, at 1133 Highway 45 N., Saturday in reference to burglary of an auto.
Entry was gained through an unlocked car door. A laptop and wallet with an undisclosed amount of cash in it was stolen from the vehicle.
n A complainant visited to the CPD Saturday to report a burglary of an auto.
The complainant said she had left her vehicle in the parking lot of Wal-Mart, at 1913 Highway 45 N. Entry was made through an unlocked car door. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken from the vehicle.
n An officer was dispatched to the 500 block of Seventh Street South Saturday in reference to burglary of an auto.
Entry was gained through an unlocked car door. A purse with an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen from the vehicle.
n An officer was dispatched to Billups Drive Saturday in reference to burglary of a home.
Entry was gained by breaking out a window in back of the residence. A camcorder and a digital camera were reported missing from the residence.
