FLOWOOD — The Heritage Academy baseball team was shut out 3-0 by host Jackson Prep on Saturday at the Walter Wilbanks Classic.
Jackson Prep scored a run in the bottom of the first and two more in the sixth to beat Heritage (1-1).
Cole Ketchum pitched four innings for the Patriots, striking out seven. Rhett Ketchum fanned three in two innings of work.
Mitchell Woodard led Heritage Academy with two hits.
The Patriots will play Monday at Washington School in Greenville.
Starkville Academy 10, Magnolia Heights 6
Earlier Saturday in Flowood, Starkville Academy improved to 2-1 with a 10-6 win over Magnolia Heights.
Micah McGee and Cooper McNeel had two hits each to lead the Volunteers, and McGee and Drew Williams drove in two runs each. John Paul Buckner had a team-high three walks while Ayden Alsobrooks and Will McReynolds each walked twice.
Buckner struck out eight hitters in five innings of work. Williams pitched two innings for the Vols.
Starkville Academy will host Jackson Prep on Tuesday.

Caledonia 7, Meridian 0 — at East Central Community College
DECATUR — The Caledonia High School baseball team won Saturday’s season opener against Meridian at East Central Community College, 7-0.
Jacob Humbers struck out nine in five scoreless innings, allowing just three hits.
JL Lewis went 2 for 4 and drove in a run for the Cavaliers (1-0). Josh Pitts was 1 for 2 with a double, and Jaden Glasgow and Braxton Harris both had hits.
Caledonia will host Columbus High School at 5 p.m. Monday.
