CORINTH — Starkville baseball was well-represented at the Northeast Mississippi Coaches Association for Better Baseball Class 5A/6A All-Star Game in Corinth Saturday.
Seniors Ethan Pulliam, Brennon Wright and Chipper Hornburger were all selected to all-star teams and came home with awards in their final game in a Starkville uniform.
Hornburger, a Coahoma Community College signee, earned Defensive Player of the Game honors. The outfielder hit .293 for Starkville this season with an .880 OPS, 10 RBIs, three doubles and two triples.
Wright, a Meridian Community College signee, was named Offensive Player of the Game after going 2-for-3 with two walks, a stolen base and an RBI.
His senior season was arguably his best as a Jacket, as he hit .471 with an OPS around 1.200, two home runs, 25 RBIs, four doubles and 20 walks compared to nine strikeouts.
Pulliam was named game MVP, going 4-for-5 with two doubles. His spring was eye-popping, hitting .456 with an OPS around 1.600, six home runs, 25 RBIs and 34 walks to eight strikeouts.
A Mississippi State signee, Pulliam plans to play both baseball and football in Starkville.
All three were named First Team All-District for Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 6A, Region 1 in May.
