The postseason accolades keep pouring in for many of MUW’s athletes as a trio of baseball players, Zach Johnson, Baron Brack and Chase Marshall, were named to all-region squads from three different publications to highlight another round of honors given out this week.
Johnson, the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year, was named a First-Team All-Region by the American Baseball Coaches Association, D3Baseball.com and D3Region8Base.com. The senior outfielder led The W in batting average (.409), hits (67), runs scored (57), doubles (12), home runs (10), slugging percentage (.701), sacrifice flies (5), and stolen bases (18). His marks for hits, runs, home runs and RBI are all MUW single-season records.
Brack, who was the team’s designated hitter and also played in the outfield, was given first-team honors from both the ABCA and D3Baseball.com, and was a second-team selection by D3Region8Base.com. Brack ended the year as a First-Team All-SLIAC selection. Against conference foes, Brock led the SLIAC in RBI, was second in batting average, third in triples and slugging percentage and seventh in home runs. Brack is also the first and only Owl to ever hit two triples in a single game, a feat he accomplished on April 25 at Greenville University.
Marshall, a junior infielder and First-Team All-SLIAC honoree, was given first-team honors by D3Baseball.com and D3Region8Base.com. He batted .379 and posted 14 multi-hit and 11 multi-RBI games.
In softball, The W’s Addison Owen was tabbed to the 2026 Academic All-District Softball Team by College Sports Communicators, which recognized players for their efforts on both the field and the classroom.
Owen, a Pontotoc native who landed First-Team All-SLIAC honors, lead the Owls in batting average (.491), hits (52), doubles (8), RBI (21), slugging percentage (.632) and on-base percentage. In order to make the academic team, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore in academic and athletic standing and have a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade-point average. The player must also start 66%, or see action in 90% of their team’s games. Owen is a mathematics major at MUW and is a member of The W’s Athletics Director’s Honor Roll.
