PEARL — Starkville senior Sterling Scott capped off his track and field career with the Yellow Jackets with a state championship.
Scott took home first place at the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 6A state championships in Pearl on Saturday with a jump of 48 feet, 11.5 inches.
The Missouri commit set school records in both indoor and outdoor triple jump this season, reaching a personal best of 50 feet, 11 inches at the Class 6A, Region 1 meet on April 20.
Scott also placed third in the long jump on Saturday with a mark of 23 feet, 11 inches.
This is Scott’s second-straight state title in triple jump after achieving the feat as a junior for the Jackets.
